It was A great Weekend... With so many enjoying the bay, it should come as no surprise that we have to form a LOST and FOUND section on this page! LOST: Set of Keys. (Possibly in a small bag) Out on the ice, or near the 125th street launch. LOST: One Glove. somewhere on the bay. probably blown to Turtle Island By now. LOST: One Sony Camcorder Battery. Out on the bay. LOST: pair of prescription glasses at ORYC Party Saturday night. FOUND: One Mitten Liner. Found at Bakers. LOST & FOUND: One DN on a failed Flying Dutchman Mission (unmanned). Attempted to sail to Put-In Bay, but was blown over past the second crack. Recovered safely. LOST & FOUND: One Snowmobile off Lost Peninsula. Seems a certain person took the instructions of NOT going too far from shore too literally.

Weekend of January 16th: Lake Charlevoix, MI: Sunday, January 16th: There were about 31 boats in Gold Fleet and 25 in Silver. Wind was fluky at times, and the bart rule came in to play for many of the races. Gold and Silver Fleets each had three races. Opti Fleet had two races. Most sailors had a great night last night in Boyne City. Nice Casual restaurants, and fun bars. The outlook for racing to day is rather pessimistic amongst the early risers. Forecasts range from 3-10 MPH. Hopefully, we will get a couple more races off today. Friday, January 15th: About 2 dozen DN's were rigged and 6-8 boats did scrub racing Friday Evening. Ice was hard Green ice, but had a clear snow-ice layer on top that isn't nearly as hard. Warm weather and sun tends to get that top 1/2" or so soft. Nevertheless, it seemed like 3/16" inserts were the runner of choice. Registration will take place at the RV at the Launch in the morning.
Saturday January 9th: Snow stayed soft overnight! Skippers meeting called for 10AM. Scouts found bird holes froze over with 1-1/2" minimum thickness. Still not safe for sailing there, but were marked with red lath, and are mapped out with GPS as seen below: update: Light wind today. Races will postpone until Sunday. 10 AM skipper meeting! Weather forecast is a bit light today at 5-10, but Sunday will be 10-20
December 27th:
Big Fun on
a small lake. 6 TIYC sailors made up
about half of the boats that lined up for
scrub-races up at Pontiac Lake Sunday.
