Martin Luther King Weekend at Sand Lake

January 15,16,17

Sand Lake:  There were about 10 DN's, An Arrow and Two Skimmers out.  Good Breeze.  Ice is hard snow ice with a pebbly texture.  No snow on the surface.

Karl Bradley pushed his old spar too far...

The DN's got 5 races in.  The results are: 1st place-Dave Zoll, 2nd-Richard Potcova, 3rd-Robbie Linden, 4th-Glen Betzoldt, 5th-Karl Bradley

Wind was shifty and puffy.  Races generally went quick with plenty of wind except at the weather end of the course where at one point a few may have gotten out of their boats to push.  For the most part the wind was pretty good making for some fun photo finishes and mark roundings.  Karl Bradley has our first major breakdown of the year with his spar breaking in half on the last leg of the last race.

WE WILL SAIL SUNDAY!  There may actually be a few more boats out there on Sunday too.  Make sure you dont miss it.

Sand Lake: Several of us met at Denny's in Dundee for breakfast.  Later we had 5 more races and even more wind!  There was a couple spinouts.  A really nice day though.  About 10 or so TIYC club boats were in attendance.

Either Tim or Robbie is responsible for this macrame job.

Dave Disbennet and his Arrow.

Robbie Linden shows some of his winning form.

Sand Lake: The kids have the day off of school and some of them went back to Sand Lake for more sailing.  Now has some powdery snow (less than an inch) but is still hard pebbly ice under the snow.
