Regulations for
Club Races
2004-2005

- Toledo Ice yacht Club
races shall be conducted in accordance with the definitions and sailing rules
of the National Ice Boat Authority (NIA). All other matters pertaining to the
conduct of our races shall be left to the discretion of the Race Committee.
- Races will be held every
day as scheduled if races can be conducted safely.
- Starting time will be
promptly at 10:00am on Saturday and Sunday. No races shall be started after
4:40pm.
- Postponement due to
unfavorable conditions shall be left to the discretion of the Race Committee.
- Races for DN’s and
Renegade’s will be started with at least three (3) boats on the starting
line. Stern Steer boats and Sweet 16’s will require at least two (2) boats on
the starting line.
- The Race Committee will
attempt to sail as many races as [possible per class per day, weather and
safety permitting.
- There will be a time
limit of (10) minutes per lap; this will be cumulative. I.E. One (1) lap race
– 10 minutes, Two (2) lap race – 20 minutes, etc. The first boat must finish
within the time limit. All subsequent finishers must finish within twice the
allotted time or be awarded a DNF.
- Eash Skipper must notify
the Race Committee of a Sail Number change prior to the start of the next
race.
- Points will be awarded
to a Sail Number as registered with the Race Committee.
- Any Racer protesting
must inform the Race Committee of their intent to protest as soon as the race
has finished. The Race Committee must receive all protests in writing within
two (2) hours of the last race of the day.
- The low point system
will be used for scoring:
A.
First Place ¾ points
B.
Subsequent places will be awarded points equal to their finish position.
C.
DNF – one more point that the last boat finished
D.
DNS – one more point then the number of boats starting
E.
DSQ – one more point then the number of boats starting.
F.
Saturday and Sunday Series races will be allowed a throw out equal to 50%
of the number of races held in excess of ten (10). I.E. Twelve (12) races – one
(1) throw out, fourteen (14) races – two (2) throw outs, etc.
G.
Skippers may not throw out a DSQ
- Tie-breakers will be
determined as stated in NIYA 2003-2004 Rules
A.
Skippers with the most 1st place finishes in the Regatta will
be deemed the winner. If that doesn’t determine a winner:

Winner will be the Skipper with
the most 2nd place finishes if that doesn’t determine a winner:

Winner will be the Skipper with
the most 3rd place finishes, if that doesn’t determine a winner:

Winner will be the Skipper with
the most 4th place finishes, and so on until a winner is declared.
B.
If step A. does not determine a winner, the eligible tying Skipper who
beat the other tying Skipper (s) in the last race shall be deemed the winner.
- Fleet champion of the 15
Meter, Renegade, and Sweet 16 will be determined by the combined final
standings of both the Saturday and Sunday Series.
- Associated Yacht Club
Awards – DN’s will use the average points scored for all Sunday Races. 15
Meter, Renegade, and Sweet 16 awards will be based on the Sunday Series Club
Races. Awards will go to the first three places.
- Liability Insurance –
Skippers must show proof of $300,000 Personal Liability coverage to the Race
Committee Chairman before they race.
- The race location will
be determined by the Race Committee on Friday night based on ice conditions
